Around the World at The Calgary Zoo

Calgary ZooWhen it comes to traveling, one of my families favourite destinations is Calgary, Alberta. It is only 2.5 hours away and features some of the most amazing attractions.

One of our favourite Calgary attractions is The Calgary Zoo. It doesn’t hurt that it is also Western Canada’s largest accredited zoo! Calgary Zoo 2

“This is the moment you walk around the world in one day.”

The Calgary Zoo has been welcoming visitors, who come from all over the world, for over 75 years. Where else can you interact with wildlife right in the middle of a city?!

Plus, the Botanical Garden and Prehistoric Park are fabulous. My children couldn’t run fast enough to Prehistoric Park. I do admit though, my husband might have been even more excited than the kids were {hehe}.

Getting the opportunity to take a walk and discover a triceratops eating in the bushes or a fearsome T-Rex lurking around the corner is pretty darn awesome in my book.

CalgaryZoo1On our first trip to the zoo, we spent all day there. There is so much to see and do that you really hate to pull yourself away. There are over 1,000 animals to check out and you can’t help but have your favourites.

My daughter absolutely loved seeing the penguins and my son was all about the tigers. Not to mention the fact they have 6 acres of botanical gardens! An all-day, around the world, adventure that includes playgrounds!

Calgary ZooCalgary attractions change with the seasons, which is awesome. The Calgary Zoo at Christmastime is especially festive!

Wow, the zoo looks amazing! Your photos are wonderful, also. I’ve been to Calgary, but never to the zoo – I’ll have to go next time I’m there.

I’m one of the lucky ones I guess. I have a daughter who lives in Calgary and I’ve been to the Calgary Zoo a few times. My grandchildren love it and I do too, it has such a lot to offer, something for everyone 🙂
