Easy Ginger Halloween Cat Cookies

With Halloween on the horizon, it is time to start thinking all things spooky! It may came as no surprise that the majority of my Halloween decor is cat related. I prefer an adorable and whimsical Halloween versus gross and gory!

Recently, I visited Bulk Barn to snag a few necessary supplies and my Easy Ginger Halloween Cat Cookies were created! The orange sprinkles make for a perfect ginger cat and the puffed up cat tail just screams Halloween!
Easy Ginger Halloween Cat Cookies. Decorated for spooky kitty fun!

Easy Ginger Halloween Cat Cookies

To begin, I started with a sugar cookie mix. If you want to make your own, check out my Maple Sugar Cookies for a holiday spin on a classic! After all, you can’t get more fall festive than adding some delicious maple syrup to a recipe!

Once the sugar cookie mix was made and rolled out, I used an Ann Clark Halloween Cookie Cutter to cut out each cat cookie. You will need to bake your cookies according to the package/recipe you are using. Make sure to allow the cookies to cool completely before frosting or decorating them.

You will need to frost each cookie prior to decorating it with sprinkles.  I used my Best Ever Buttercream Frosting as it always gets the job done deliciously! I applied a layer of buttercream on top of each cookie.

To finish the look, I poured orange sprinkles into a bowl. I then took each cookie and carefully laid them, frosting side down, in the sprinkles. It allowed for each Halloween cat cookie to be covered completely by sprinkles!

Okay so normally I’d be looking at you cross eyed mentioning Halloween while we are still in Summer mode however for treats I can always make an exception. πŸ˜€ These cat Halloween cookies are super cute and I’m a huge fan of buttercream frosting. Thanks for this recipe. I’ll have to bookmark this and save for later.

I love your recipes, you make such cool goodies! I love your method of getting the sprinkles on, using frosting and just dipping the cookie into a bowl of crystals – thanks for solving one of my cookie decorating problems! I hate when I put the sprinkles on and either it’s not enough on the cookie or they fall off onto the cookie sheet.

We don’t cook for our cats at all, as they don’t eat many sugary things! These are amazing though!

These aren’t cookies for cats. They are cookies in the shape of a cat for humans to eat. Also, cats can’t taste sugar..*smile

I love the ginger cat cookies. I can’t wait to make mine with some black ones thrown in since my three boys are black. Bonus, I won’t have sprinkles all over the house instead of just on the cookie. Get here quick Halloween πŸ™‚

These sure do look easy and very tasty! Do you refrigerate your dough before using the cookie cutter? I sure do love Halloween.

It really depends on whether you are making from a recipe or from a premade mix. The premade mix I used did not require refrigeration prior to rolling it out. However, in most cases a sugar cookie recipe WILL require you to refrigerate for at least 30 minutes prior to rolling out.

How totally cute! I usually think about cookies like this at Christmas. Halloween seems like the perfect occasion (or excuse, hee hee) to do some extra baking!

I don’t know that I’m ready yet to think about Halloween, but I just finished boxing up some Halloween decorations for a yard sale and so…. I guess the occasion is getting close. Ah me.

Sugar cookies and sprinkles are always delicious. Yours are especially cute!

This are great! I wish I could eat cookies, but I can’t unless they are gluten-free and those aren’t usually too good. These are great if I ever need to make any.

Matthew loves ginger cookies, so he’ll be thrilled with this recipe. Oh, he just walked by, and he thinks the cats look like Labradoodles. I’m not so certain about that, but I do think I may get him to complete more “honey do’s” if I bake these. Thank you for sharing and promoting couple harmony!

I wonder if I could make these cookies in pug shape, wouldn’t that be fun! I always look forward to Fall, my favourite time of the year, and I bet my son would love these cookies since his birthday is at the end of October and he likes cats!

Loved the cat cookies! I used to love baking cookies, especially cutout ones but it seems I only do it at Christmas now. Maybe I’ll try some at Halloween this year I’m sure I have a cookie cutter for it!
