This year, I didn’t bake as much for the holiday season as the years before. I decided to go the easier route and bake just a few select favourites. Since my kids are crazy about cookies, most everything I made was some kind of cookie.
Their favourite of all was my Easy Sugar Cookie Snowflakes. It pairs a classic recipe with some super easy decorating. You can’t go wrong!

Ridiculously Easy Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 and 3/4 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
-
Mix in vanilla and egg followed by flour and baking powder.
-
Divide mixture into 2 balls and cool in fridge for at least one hour.
-
Roll out each ball flat on a floured surface. Use a snowflake for each cutout.
-
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool completely before decorating.
So now that the cookies have been baked and cooled, it is time to decorate!
Each snowflake was created by using Wilton Decorating Icing and fun pastel decorating balls (sprinkles). And yes, it is THAT easy.
