Family Travel in Moncton – New Brunswick

For a whole week in July, my family and I got to go on a New Brunswick family trip. It had been several years since we were last able to take a family vacation, so this experience was such a blessing!

We started family travel in Moncton, New Brunswick. This was the first time I had been to New Brunswick and was looking forward to seeing everything for the very first time!Family Travel in Moncton

The adventure began on Monday where our first stop was the Magnetic Hill Zoo  The zoo is home to over 618 animals and what really stood out the most to me was how the animals really had room to breath.

All to often, you visit a zoo and you begin to feel there is more interest in the tourist rather than the animals housed within the zoo. The Magnetic Hill Zoo clearly cares about the well-being of their animals and that translates into a pretty fabulous zoo experience for everyone!Family Travel in Moncton 2

I have always been fond of the big cats and the zoo had quite a few. I loved being able to take my time in viewing and photographing the cats. My children loved the viewing areas and enjoyed the petting zoo.

Best of all, the zoo experienced lasted a little over an hour. It is the perfect amount of time, especially with kids. The Magnetic Hill Zoo is the perfect place for kids of all ages to enjoy!  Family Travel in Moncton 3

Our next stop was at the Hopewell Rocks. We were lucky enough to arrive at low tide, so we got the opportunity to walk around the rocks! We had a wonderful guide who shared information, stories and special tidbits along the way.

We couldn’t bring our stroller down, but thankfully it was so entertaining that my youngest didn’t mind all the walking. The kids went nuts for the chance to be near the water, check out some sea life and to get muddy. This was our first opportunity to see the Bay of Fundy, which would get to see more of later on the trip!

My youngest loved picking up rocks and even got to try skipping rocks. My daughter enjoyed checking out sea life with our guide, while my son was all about the caves!

They even got to climb in a cave and exit through a hole in the back of the cave. As you can imagine, this was awesome for all the kids. Many of the parents, including my husband, joined in on the fun! I brought along a change of clothes for the kids and I was super glad I did.

By the time we were done with our walk, they were messy as could be. They have a wash-off station, so we all were able to clean up a bit before returning to our vehicle.

To top off the awesome day, for dinner, we went on a Shediac Bay Cruise. The cruise is a lobster-themed experience that lasts roughly 2 and a half hours. It was family-friendly, so the kids got to participate in fun activities!

We took the evening cruise, so I was very thankful the kids had fun as it kept them from running on empty! We enjoyed a presentation on lobster fishing, tips, cooking instructions and even how to properly eat a lobster! Family Travel in Moncton 6

The kids got to hold a lobster, which was a huge hit. They were suppose to kiss the lobster, but since they refused, I was asked to kiss a lobster. In the interest of good sportsmanship, I did it. You can probably imagine the giggles that ensued!

The setting was amazing to enjoy our dinner and so serene. My husband enjoyed lobster, while the kids and I went with the chicken. It was delicious and the cruise was lively, so animated and really a perfect evening with family and friends! Family Travel in Moncton 7

To finish off the evening, we were surprised by delicious goodies in our room. For our time in Moncton, we stayed at the Delta Beauséjour Hotel, which was not only a gorgeous hotel, but perfect for a family. We enjoyed two rooms with a joining door.

The kids each got their own bed, so they were in Heaven right away! Coming back from a long day and finding sweet treats and drinks was so appreciated. Sometimes all it takes is just that little extra “something” to end your day in an amazing way!Family Travel in Moncton 8

The next day was spent finishing up our time in Moncton and heading on to more adventures in New Brunswick. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the hotel and after checking out, we made our way to Fundy National Park. The best part of the drive was the gorgeous scenery.

I loved seeing all the beautiful greens and lushness! We decided to take some time and let the kids enjoy the beach a little. We parked and headed over to the water. The kids enjoyed checking out all the shells laying about as well as getting their feet wet.Family Travel in Moncton 10

After our mini beach run, we headed into Alma for Sticky Buns. I love sweets and these were over-the-top delicious!

Make sure to watch for more posts on my New Brunswick adventures!!!!

My daughter visited Moncton a couple of months ago with her bio father’s side of the family that she had never met before! She loved it and found it very different from the west coast!
