Freezer Pancakes Tutorial

Freezer Pancakes

My children absolutely love pancakes for breakfast. However, I am not too fond of waking up before 7 am and cooking them up. I realize they are not hard or too time consuming, but making them morning after morning can get a little old.

So like any sanity-loving Mom, I do my best to keep tasks productive and efficient. This means that when I make pancakes, I make a lot extra that I can just pop into the microwave out of the freezer, instead of heating up the oven morning after morning.

For many, it seems only reasonable to purchase ready-to-go pancakes in the freezer section. However, there is no special trick to making your own freezer pancakes. Plus, you save a ton of money doing it yourself. All you need to do it yourself is:

  • Freezer Bags
  • Parchment Paper
  • Pancakes

You don’t have to make a special order of pancakes for this task, just make extra the next time your children or hubby ask for a pancake breakfast. I like to use a 1/4 measuring cup to pour out the pancakes.

Plus, that pancake size is perfect for only 30 seconds in the microwave! Just rip or cut parchment paper squares to place between the pancakes and store in a freezer bag. Make sure to lay the bags flat in the freezer to save room as well.

Could that be any easier? You save time, money and your well-deserved sanity {hehe}. Plus, you can encourage your hubby to get up with the kids since breakfast is already pre-made for them. As someone who loves to sleep in as long as possible, this is definitely a bonus!

Great idea. I hate making pancakes even on the weekends when I have time but making them ahead of time is a brilliant idea.

I haven’t tried it with parchment paper (but I will now). However, I definitely freeze pancakes but I do it for me. 😉

Brilliant idea! I usually make extra and put them in the fridge for my son to take to work, never even contemplated freezing them – I will now though, thank you so much for sharing this tip with us.
