I can usually be found at my local grocery store shopping with the kids at least 3-4 times a week. With a family of five, there really is no way to avoid that. To my surprise, the local grocer marks down fruit when it becomes ripe, mushy or starting to brown. I was able to snag two bags full of apples for less than $2!
Having all the apples meant I had to use them up quickly before they spoiled. I instantly decided to make a homemade apple pie. For me, it has always been my favourite pie and so easy to make! Plus, you can pair it with milk or ice cream for an even yummier treat!
Homemade Apple Pie
You will need:
5 cups apples, cubed
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
1 double-crust pie pastry
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. For my crust, I went with my Homemade Pie Crust Recipe. It is super easy to make!
Mix sugar, cinnamon and cubed apples together in a bowl. Place apple mixture in the pie pan and dot with the butter. Make sure to make venting cuts on the top crust!
Cook for 10 minutes and then reduce your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes or until cooked!

Fairly simple recipe! I’ve been hesitant to make a pie, not sure I’d get it right, but I think I can handle this recipe 🙂

I love a good apple pie, then I like to pour custard (a lot!) over it and just enjoy. This sounds like a nice pie, I’m also going to check out your pastry recipe as since I moved here mine doesn’t seem to work any more 🙁
