Plane Party Planning Ideas

Invite guests to “take off” on a high flying birthday adventure via a creative invitation.  There is a world of printable plane themed invitations available for purchase or you can craft your own.  Print party details on colorful paper and carefully fold up each invitation into a paper plane.

Personally “fly” the planes over to each guest.  Or, consider sending guests ticket-style invitations requesting they board the birthday airlines at your designated departure time.

Planning the decorations for a plane themed party can be loads of fun.  Consider holding the celebration at a real airplane hangar or near a small runway or real plane (with permission of course) for a natural backdrop.  If these locations are not options, recreate the feel of an airport by including airplanes in your décor.

Adding a landing strip runner to your dining table is one fun suggestion and can function as both an activity area and as décor.  Cloud balloons, luggage and loads of little aviator props will add a magical quality to the party space.

When planning your in-flight menu, be sure to take into consideration the ages of your guests and any special dietary needs.  Give some flair to your refreshment choices by adding themed labels and tags and including creative names. “Jet Fuel Juice” or “Pilot Punch” sounds so much more fun than drinking plain old water or lemonade.

How about “cockpit cookies” or “mile-high” marshmallows?  Wow guests with an amazing cake!  Adding a small model plane to the top of even a store bought cake or cupcakes will raise excitement.  Of course, throwing in some classic airplane peanuts and pretzels is always acceptable!

There are many great activity choices at a plane party.  From flying remote control planes outside, to crafting model airplanes indoors, to assembling gliders or coloring planes, the sky is truly the limit when it comes to great things to do.  If possible, arrange to climb aboard an idle plane or visit with a pilot.

Before letting guests depart, be sure to send them home on a happy note with a fun party favor.  Suggestions include plane sugar cookies, a pilot’s hat and wings, or even a small toy plane.  Remember that favors don’t have to be elaborate or expensive to be effective!

Add some of your own thrilling twists and turns to these awesome plane party planning tips to give your guests their own exciting plane party experience

you have some really good ideas, I’d never think of half of these. Still, I’m glad I don’t have to plan any more parties, I just get to enjoy them these days. 🙂

This took me back to when my boy was younger, and planning his parties….he was so fascinated with trains and planes.
My girl has a fort kit that comes with instructions on how to build a plane fort. THAT would have been a great addition to the festivities way back 🙂
