This past month has been all about getting my health back on track. Over the last couple years I have really settled into a routine that isn’t optimal and decided it was finally time to start changing that. I think of it like a spring cleaning for my health!
Did you know that cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of death for Canadian women and men, despite being largely preventable? With so much life ahead of me, I want to do what is best for my cardiovascular health now before it is too late!
Did you know that a Loblaw Registered Dietitian works to help Canadians achieve their health and wellness goals? Loblaw Pharmacists also support these goals by offering patient-centered care through a wide variety of services to support cardiovascular and overall health.
I have had the pleasure of working with Loblaw in the past and was so excited to visit the Loblaws City Market in Calgary, Alberta to meet with a dietitian to talk about ways to keep me on track!
Upon entering the store, I went straight to the pharmacy to have a look around before meeting with the dietitian. Instantly you could see that Loblaws takes a lot of pride in making healthy heart choices and offer resources for their customers.
Not only do the in-store registered dietitians offer one-on-one consultations tailored to your particular health needs, but they offer a wealth of information including heart-healthy recipes, cooking classes, and food choices to help maintain normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Plus, in-store pharmacists can help you track and monitor blood pressure, demonstrate how to use the in-store wellness machines and provide information on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

I am so very grateful that Whitney (Loblaws City Market dietitian) took the time to talk with me about my particular health concerns and ways to improve upon what I am already doing. Her insight really was priceless and it is hard to believe it was all FREE!

We have No Frills here and I must say that I like our pharmacist, always helpful and with good advice, we don’t have a dietitian though.

We are on strict diet here and it’s sometime dificult. Was diagnose last year with iron overload. I try to eat nothing over 10% and it’s hard, nuts and grains are high in iron (didn’t really know that). I also watch sugar, fat and salt.
