Summer Activities for Kids

Summer with kids often means less structure. I wish I could say it also means the chance to sleep in and more chances to relax, but being a mom is a 24/7 job. Despite having no school, my children still wake up before 7 am and require a decent amount of activities during the day.

Thankfully, we have a park nearby our home that we can easily walk to during the cooler part of the morning or evening. However, for the rest of the time, indoor activities are a must. Hopefully these fabulous summer activities for kids can help your children be engage and have fun this summer!

Summer Activities for Kids

– Park/Backyard – This is always on the top of my children’s list. Make sure to plan ahead with sunscreen, sunhats and water!

– Play Dough – My children can spend hours playing with play dough. It is such an easy choice, plus you can make your own homemade play dough!

– Finger Paints – Kids and creativity mix so well together. Have the kids throw on some play clothes and have a blast! Make sure paint is washable for a super easy cleanup!

– Board Games – Board games are classic. There are so many age-appropriate games out there you can’t go wrong with this activity.

– Treasure Hunt – Why not take advantage of indoor space and go on a treasure hunt! You make the rules and the children are the pirates.

– Hide and Seek – Who doesn’t love this game? You can add an extra spin on this by waiting until dark and using glow lights during play!

Great list of activities for kidlets! We’ll be spending many a day at the beach with my grandkids hunting for sea glass and wading in the ocean.

When painting, I add a drop of dish soap in the paint so that the paint comes off easier when the kids are washing their hands.

I try doing a lot of creative crafts. Finger painting is always fun for kids. I haven’t tried making my own play dough yet.. I need to do that!
