Taco Salad in a Bag

With kids, sometimes convenience can be everything! I was introduced a couple years ago to the idea of Taco Salad in a Bag. I never actually tried making it until recently when I needed to come up with a salad recipe for our Friday Recipe Club.

The beauty of Taco Salad in a Bag is not only that it is kid-friendly and delicious, but also the fact it is convenient. All the ingredients can be put into the Doritos Bag for a great no-mess or clean-up experience. I can see this being a favourite for so many occasions, including camping, sleepovers, or even birthday parties! This kid friendly Taco Salad in a Bag is a perfect recipe for any night of the week!

You will need:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 cups salsa
  • 1 cup canned black beans
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • Doritos Nacho-flavoured individual bags
  • shredded cheese
  • lettuce

Cook ground turkey until done. Mix in salsa, black beans and white rice. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Take Doritos bags and slightly crush chips. Fill with turkey mixture, shredded cheese and lettuce.

Enjoy!

You can't go wrong with this Taco Salad in a Bag!

How would this idea work for toddlers? I think it sounds like a good idea for adults, but sounds messy for my kids. I have to crush everything up small for my two year old, and she then eats her taco salad out of a bowl where it’s easier for her to see what she is scooping up with her spoon.
