Twisted Halloween Cookie House

Holiday baking has always been a must in my life. It is one of those things that I just really need to do to help me enjoy the holidays. Plus, yummy treats always go over well with everyone at home! Traditionally most of my holiday baking is done for Christmas, but I have really been enjoying creating some fabulous haunted Halloween treats this year!

I came upon a pre-assembled Halloween Cookie House. There are so many fabulous options this year to make a Twisted Halloween Cookie House that is is almost too hard to pick just one! All you need to do is decorate the cookie house to your heart’s content!

Twisted Halloween Cookie House

The haunted cookie house that I chose is made of chocolate. Each piece is edible and sturdy. You could also purchase a haunted house cookie cutter set if your heart is set on making your own at home, but it can be more time consuming compared to a pre-cut kit! .

Plus, the pre-assembled nature meant I could focus on enjoying the decorating versus it becoming a time-consuming experience. Sometimes you just want to decorate!

Your Yummy Haunted House Awaits

The kit I used came with orange fondant, black and purple icing as well as candy. I knew I wanted to use the orange fondant for the door and windows, so I prepared a cutting board with icing sugar and rolled out the fondant. Don’t be afraid to be creative and give your Twisted Halloween Cookie House extra love!

I then used my cutters to create a door frame and windows. When working with fondant, remember to keep it covered with plastic wrap to avoid it drying out. For those who haven’t used fondant before, it is basically like a thicker playdoh that you can eat! I also used icing to attach the fondant to the house.

Make it Fun and BOOOOOO-Tastic!

Orange fondant was ideal to create leaves for the roof. With a small leaf-size cutter, I was able to cutout leaves at the ideal size. Piping black icing on the roof gave it the appearance of twisted shingles!

For a here and there effect, I added the leaves on top of the black icing roof. I added a dot of black icing on the top of each leaf so that I could put a candy on top of each leaf. I then took a toothpick and swiped the black icing on each leaf for a twisted leaf look.

Happy Halloween!

Utilizing the black and purple icing, I traced the window and door, as well as made windows and shapes for the house. With a toothpick, I pulled at the icing for a twisted look as well. I really wanted a look that was creepy and hauntingly imperfect!

Yummy candy was added to the icing on the windows and door. Candy corn was used to line the top of the house. The real beauty of this project comes from creativity. I had a lot of fun creating this Twisted Halloween Cookie House and so will you!
