When you think of your cat, odds are that you don’t associate him or her with having a job. However, even cats have jobs. We all have a place in this wide world and the lives cats lead aren’t as simple as it may appear.
These 10 Important Everyday Cat Jobs will have you reassessing what you know of your cat. Plus, you may find yourself in awe of how fabulous it is to actually be a cat!
These 10 Important Everyday Cat Jobs Make a Difference!
1. Florist – Whether indoor or outdoor, cats love flowers. The moment I have flowers on the counter, it is like a magic beam of light has shown down unto them and called all of my cats for a quick assessment.
Well I use to look at this and think, my cats only want to chew and destroy my flowers. I have started to realize that, in fact, my cats are actually themselves, florists.
They see a flower arrangement and only want to make it more cat-fabulous. And if they push over the flowers, pouring water everywhere and breaking a vase? Well, they are clearly showing their disgust with your flower choices. Maybe next time you will put more thought into what flowers grace your space!
2. Snuggle Buddy – One of the biggest crazes right now is hiring a person to snuggle with you. Yes, people actually get paid money to snuggle up to strangers WITH their clothes on. When in reality, this has been the oldest and most widely popular cat job.
Someone finally paid enough attention to realize that if a cat can do it, why can’t I? Exactly! You get to snuggle with an awesome ball of furry gentleness, while your cat does the best job they can. Expert Level: AWESOME!
3. Quality Control – Cats love to break stuff. Yes! However, have you ever stopped to think why? Well, let me tell you. Cats love to break stuff because they are actually quality control officers and love their job! We all know that we have more than enough material possessions in our life.
Your cat is there to help you keep it real. Material possessions are over-rated and your cat is really saving you from the mortal coil of it all. Next time your cat goes badass THUG on your glass, you should say thank mew!
4. Food Inspector – Everyone needs to eat. However, sometimes bad food happens. Your cat is there to do the right thing and inspect that food for you. Think about this. Back in the day, kings and queens hired food testers to ensure they wouldn’t be poisoned.
Fast forward and your cat is just treating you like royalty by making sure what you put in your mouth is cat approved. It really is a labour of love and one cat job you can’t not appreciate!
5. Exterminator – Bugs happen. Thankfully, your cat is there to keep those eight-legged menaces at bay. No one wants to wake up to something crawling on their face or looking over to see flies on their burger.
Your cat uses their prey/play drive to keep you and your home bug-free, or at least as bug-free as possible. After all, cats need a lot of naps during the day, especially after having such in-demand cat jobs!
6. Lap Warmer – Whether on the laptop, watching a movie, or enjoy a quiet read, we all sit. Your cat, however, sees this as an opportunity to be the best lap warmer possible. Why you ask? Well, we are humans and don’t have fur. This, to a cat, is a clear sign of weakness.
Your cat loves you, so naturally they want to help you to meet a specific standard of comfort and health. Thus, your cat shares their fur and body warmth. Seriously, brilliant!
7. Professional Spy – Picture your cat during the day. What is he or she doing? Not sure? Well that is because your cat falls into the professional spy category. This is one of the most highly regarded cat jobs. Your cat is like James Bond, but with more fur and less action.
You see your cat staring out the window at birds. Your cat, in reality, is actually surveying the neighborhood for suspicious activity. You see a strange cat on your lawn. Your cat sees his informant. Start paying attention, you might be seriously surprised!
7. Massage Therapist – After a long day, there is nothing quite like relaxing and getting a massage. Now in reality, most of us don’t have a massage therapist on speed dial and your cat knows this. Thankfully, your cat is there to help. Keep in mind that while your cat does have claws, they can keep them retracted for your safety.
One of my sweet cats, Flutter, who passed away last year was the best massage therapist cat I have ever known. She could work out a knock in your shoulder like no other paws could! Don’t forget to tip with some cat treats after your massage!
9. Counselor – No one is there for you more than your cat. When it comes to a listening and understanding ear, your cat has you covered. After all, a meow is worth a thousand words. Your cat is there 24/7 and you don’t even have to get dressed for a counseling session.
10. Psychic – Any cat owner knows that a cat has an amazing sense about him or her. While the idea of your cat being a psychic may seem far fetched, you need to consider how your cat just seems to know so much so often. When it’s past midnight and your cat jumps up from a sound sleep, ever wonder what they really heard?
Cats are known to save lives by alerting to situations that no one else was aware of. Having a cat psychic in your life makes you pretty lucky indeed, wouldn’t mew say?
